The San Ysidro Port of Entry is currently being redesigned by the Government Services Administration. Planned are sixty northbound and six southbound lanes. Construction is anticipated to commence in 2009 and be completed by 2014. Passports – Beginning in January of 2008 all US citizens entering the US at all land ports of entry will be required to have a passport; or a government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.
