Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The San Diego small business community is often unaware of ADA requirements.  Too often business owners believe that property owners are responsible for insuring that the building they lease is ADA compliant.  Or a property owner may be under the impression that because their building is older than when ADA laws went into effect they do not have to comply.  Both of these beliefs are erroneous and will cost you thousands of dollars in lawsuits and you will still have to bring your business and building into compliance.

In an effort to assist our members with ADA compliance, we have compiled a list of informational material that may help you avoid getting sued.  More importantly it will help you better serve your disabled customers.  The disabled community are loyal shoppers and will spend their dollars with the businesses that cater to their needs.  Please become informed about ADA laws and take the necessary steps to make your business compliant.
